SE Controls reach new heights at Tall Buildings Conference

More than 130 delegates involved in architecture and building design attended the 2019 Tall Buildings Conference.

More than 130 delegates involved in architecture and building design attended the 2019 Tall Buildings Conference at London’s Building Centre on April 9th, which was sponsored by Kawneer, Polypipe and SE Controls.

Organised by Architecture Today magazine, the half-day conference included talks covering a range of topics from water management and curtain walling to affordable housing, as well as key presentation on ‘Strategies for smoke control in high-rise buildings’ given by SE Controls’ Fire Engineer, Nelson Godinho.

As the focus of the conference is to provide technical insight, as well as design guidance and opportunities for discussion during the technical Q&A panel discussion, Nelson’s presentation explored key legislative and regulatory issues linked to compliance product performance and building design.

He commented: “Compliance has always been at the core of our business at SE Controls, as our systems and smoke control solutions are designed and installed to save lives. Also, the scale, scope and complexity of the regulatory environment exists for a good reason, which is to protect people in the event of a fire.

He added: “However, this regulatory network is currently under review to improve it further, so our role as specialists, is to guide, advise and help building design practices implement the regulations to ensure the end result is compliant and safe. The conference has been an excellent platform to help communicate this message, which was well received.”
