SE Controls employees raise £6,000 for British Heart Foundation

A cheque for £6,000 has been presented to The BHF following a 12-month employee led initiative.

A cheque for £6,000 has been presented to The British Heart Foundation (BHF) following a 12-month employee led initiative to raise funds for the charity, which has smashed through the original £2,000 target.

Since the BHF was chosen as the company’s main charity in January last year, staff have taken every opportunity to raise money by engaging in a diverse range of fun and challenging activities including a mud-run, an Easter Bake-off and even a sponsored leg-wax by Group Managing Director, Will Perkins. Ouch!

All the fundraising initiatives were co-ordinated by Senior Delivery Coordinator, Charlotte Carpenter, who worked alongside fellow colleagues, encouraging them to help keep the total growing, even if it involved giving up chocolate for a month.

Charlotte, who lost her own father to a heart condition, presented the cheque jointly with Will Perkins to Warren Appleby, BHF’s Midlands Fundraising Manager for Staffordshire and Shropshire. He commented: “It’s absolutely clear that everyone has put a massive effort into fundraising for us and we’re grateful for the commitment and support in achieving this excellent total, half of which was generated by employees and the other half as match funding by the company.”

He added: “The BHF is at the centre of heart research to improve understanding and educate people about how to stay ‘heart healthy’, as well as helping develop new clinical solutions to heart conditions. It’s through the support and activities of countless individuals and companies, such as everyone at SE Controls, that enables us to continue with our work and help save lives.”
