SE Controls provided a fully automated Smoke and Heat Exhaust Ventilation (SHEV) system to provide safe escape of the internal occupants and safe entry for the fire services in the event of a fire. SE Controls installed and commissioned automatic opening actuators onto fire rated doors to the smoke shafts within the internal corridors and provided stairway ventilation via opening vents to facilitate safe smoke extraction.
In the event of a fire the fire alarm detection system would identify which zone to extract the smoke from and open the corresponding fire rated doors and top of shaft vents to extract smoke from the internal corridors and escape stairs. The remaining floors of the smoke shaft would remain closed to keep the integrity of the smoke shaft and to keep the escape routes free of smoke. The smoke extraction components are all linked to the efficient and flexible OS2 control system. Each OS2 controller operates on a mains voltage primary power supply and contains integral fully monitored and intelligent battery backup for secondary power operation.
