Escape Stair
The primary objective of a smoke ventilation strategy in a residential building is to prevent smoke from entering into the common stair. As stated within Approved Document B, if a building is less than 11m high, has more than three storey’s and is not connected to a covered car park, then an Escape Stair AOV is required.
